Did you know that doing laundry can be hazardous to your health?
Just ask my Mom-in-law, who broke her ankle doing laundry 6 weeks before Chris and I got married.
Actually, I guess I should have asked her (or at least remembered the lesson), since I just broke my foot on Thursday. Doing laundry.
Correction..I didn't just break my foot. I broke 2 toes AND my foot.
And it hurts.
And I'm grumpy about it.
I had a laundry basket full of linens, and was talking to Alex as I came down the steps. I thought I was on the last step…but I was on the one above when I stepped off. Yeah. Ouch.
Look at those poor piggies!
So, yeah, the pain is..well, a pain. The bandage and boot-thing are unflattering and darn inconvenient. But you know what REALLY sucks?
I've been given an official 'stay off of it as much as possible for at least 4 weeks' order by the doc. Which means….
I can't do my yoga. Which sounds silly, because I can hardly walk much less do anything else, but it still annoys me that I can't do most of it.
I can't do the special parants training in the month of August that's offered at the kids Martial Arts Studio (though the owner told me I can do it in September instead- yay!).
I won't be able to do the Warrior Dash in September. I'm really bummed about this one…I was looking forward to the camping trip and VIking horns and the whole experience!
Really, right now, I can't do MOST things. And right at the time I was just starting to get myself back into the swing of exercising more….it's so frustrating. RAHHHH! >:O
Once I stop wallowing in this self-pity (I'm allowing myself 2 hours to sulk, and I'm using up every minute), I have every intention of googling chair exercises and figuring out how I can modify my yoga and strength training to keep busy and keep strong.
But until then, I'm having my consolation mocha, and yes, darn it, a chocolate chocolate-chip cookie (it's amazing, the things you can do zooming around the kitchen on a rolling office chair), and feeling very sorry for myself.
And I'm staying far, far away from the laundry for a while.
