We kind of love burgers around here. Chris is pretty much a stickler for the same thing- he wants a grilled burger with cheese. Bacon is preferred. BBQ sauce is a must.
That's it.
Me, I love burgers with different toppings- my tastes change depending on my mood. And every now and then, I can't decide what I want..so I go with a little of everything.
Hence today's Bacon Burgers- 3 ways.
Just looking at the pics makes me hungry again!
I started with 1/3 lb of my homemade bacon.
Gawd, look at this.
This, my friends, is bacon porn.
I'll be in my bunk.
I took the bacon and tossed it into my food processor with 1/4 of a white onion and 2 cloves of garlic, and processed it into the consistency of ground beef.
The bacon mix went into the bottom of a bowl and 1 1/5 lbs of ground beef was crumbled over the top with sprinkle of Montreal steak seasoning.
The bacon and ground beef mixtures was carefully tossed and turned until it was fairly blended without breaking up the ground beef into mush. The mix was formed into patties and thrown on the grill until cooked to desired doneness. In the mean time, some of that bacon was sliced up and cooked in the skillet.
I cooked the bacon a little too much… the cavekids were a little too rowdy and I was distracted.
I took the bacon out and tossed some Portobello mushrooms into the bacon fat and cooked those down for the mushroom and swiss burgers.
Mmm, mushroom and Swiss!
Another burger got topped with blue cheese and hot sauce.
Chris' burger was plain (borrrring), just the way he likes it…
…and mine, well. Mine got the royal treatment with a crown of guacamole.
Since Chris is a bit of a spoilsport, Alex and I had a great time sharing the mushroom n swiss, the bluecheese/hot sauce and the cheddar/bacon/guacamole burgers.
They. Were. Freakin' YUM.
The end.
Except…I need to make these again. Soon!!
